Giveaway | In the Land of Believers by Gina Welch

Congratulations to Jennifer from Blogful of Books for winning this giveaway!

In an attempt to find out what Evangelicals are really like, atheist Gina Welch faked a conversion experience and went undercover at Jerry Falwell’s Thomas Road Baptist Church. Over the course of nearly two years, Welch immersed herself in the Evangelical culture, going so far as to embark on a mission trip to Alaska intended to save one hundred souls. In the Land of Believers recounts Welch’s experience in the Christian church. To learn more about this book and my thoughts on it, check out my review here.

I really liked VICIOUS CYCLE by Terri Blackstock, it was very interesting and I learned a great deal from it. Thank my Heavenly father I have never had that problem form any of my family so far.

Thanks for the great review. I would be very interested in reading the book. I can see how it would certainly be a bit offensive but perhaps also a bit enlightening to why the world views Christians the way they do. Although I guess it should be obvious, since Christ said we would be hated for his sake.
    I have tweeted your contest:)

    • Surprisingly, some of the most offensive things I found in the book were things Christians had done–things that Gina herself did not find offensive. I think this book showed me how far many evangelical churches still have to go…
