As world-renowned preacher and evangelist Billy Graham looks back over seven decades of ministry and contemplates what lies ahead, he senses the uneasiness around the world and hears the sound of hoofbeats–perhaps on the fringes of heaven itself–warning all to prepare for eternity before the four horsemen of the Apocalypse thunder to earth to bring about the end of this age.

In Storm Warning, Graham examines today’s most challenging problems and adds his voice and perspective to what the Bible says about the storms we are facing… and the storms yet to come. This completely revised and updated book, including a new forward by Franklin Graham, has a renewed sense of urgency as ancient prophecies in the book of Revelation begin to unfold in today’s headlines.

American Christians leading lives of relative luxury have taken their eyes off the prize. Why focus on the glory of eternity with Christ when life on earth is comfortable enough? It’s safe to say that believers in Cuba, Iran, Tibet, and other nations hostile to Christianity don’t need a book like this. Their sufferings are severe and daily, their only hope the promise of eternity with God. On the other hand, Americans do need this book. We need to remember that while we enjoy the blessings of comfort today, it is dangerous to forget to prepare for the coming of Christ tomorrow–or the persecution which will precede it.

This is the message of Billy Graham’s latest book. The aging evangelist draws from decades of study, experience, and prayer to map out what we should expect in these last days and how it all points to the second coming of the Savior. He also examines current and past events and explains how they all fit in with God’s end time plan.

Organization: ☆ ☆ ☆

The chapters are arranged logically, but within them Graham tends to ramble and digress frequently. I didn’t really mind this, but it didn’t exactly fit my definition of well-organized nonfiction.

Usefulness: ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

Storm Warning is just that –a warning, not an exegetical work on the book of Revelation, thus it should not be read as such or the reader will be sorely disappointed. Its purpose is to turn people to Christ; its effect is to strike holy fear into the hearts of unbelievers, and glorious hope into the hearts of those who follow the King.

Accuracy: ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

I am no theologian; Graham is, so I can’t say for certain that everything he says in this book is 100% biblically accurate, but after decades of Spirit-filled ministry I trust him to get the facts straight.

Writing: ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

Graham’s voice is just as powerful on the page today as it was thirty years ago and his talent as a writer clearly shines through in this book.

Excellent cover; I like the contrast of the dark blue background and yellow text and the photo fits nicely. It lends a sufficiently ominous air to the title.
